Dedicated to Making a Positive Impact
Penn West Energy is one of the largest conventional oil and natural gas producers in North America and holds a vast position in light oil in Western Canada. Based in Calgary, Alberta, Penn West's 2,000 employees have a proud history and a long track record of success. Guided by an experienced and proven leadership team, Penn West has grown its production from 500 barrels per day to its current production level of 170,000 barrels per day.
Penn West operates a significant portfolio of oil and gas assets throughout the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin on a land base encompassing approximately seven million acres. This extensive land base is leveraged into the development of new fields and the application of innovative technology to the redevelopment and rejuvenation of existing fields.
Penn West's business strategy is firmly rooted in unlocking the resource potential of key oil and gas plays in Western Canada. One of the most notable of these resource plays is the Pembina Cardium in West Central Alberta. Penn West holds the largest land position in the Pembina Cardium, which is the largest conventional oil pool in Canada with the largest aerial extent of any oil pool in North America.
Penn West's leadership provides a clear vision and demonstrates sincerity towards responsible environmental stewardship and preserving the health and safety of employees, contractors and the general public. It is imperative to the safety and environmental performance of Penn West's operations that it recognize and respect regulatory requirements, and foster strong and transparent relationships within Penn West, amongst industry regulators and within the communities where the company operates.
Penn West is steadfast in maintaining positive and lasting relationships with its stakeholders. The company is further committed to making a positive impact in the communities where we live, work and play through community engagement and investment initiatives.
